Every interstate shipment includes free released protection at 60 cents per pound per item, but for a piano that coverage is minimal, so full-value protection is available and recommended. Every signed piece gets a photo-documented condition report at pickup and delivery, and federal rules give you 9 months to file a claim.
Do piano movers charge extra for stairs or difficult access?
Not after you sign. Stairs, long carries up to 200 feet, and any shuttle truck are confirmed during the pre-move assessment and priced into AmeriSafe's written estimate, which is locked before the truck rolls (binding on qualifying moves). There are no surprise access charges on move day, only what was itemized up front.
How long does it take to ship a piano across the country?
